Character

What is Character?

This contract provides players with a character that can be used with your Meta ID. This, in a sense, becomes your identity in this new world. Character provides you with Race, Role, and Element as defined in Identity.

What makes Character different?

Loot provides the foundation for a new RPG world. To participate in such a world, you need three things:

  • Identity

  • Ability

  • Equipment

Loot is obviously the Equipment. And there already exist a few projects, like LootCharacter and Role, for the Loot world that are focused on Identity and Ability. So why come out with something different? These are great projects, but we have a few different perspectives on how these three elements should interact in the Loot world:

  1. We want characters to be non-associative and separate from stats and Loot. Your Character is your Identity in this world. We don't think it should be directly tied to your Ability or Equipment (Loot). We think there's a lot of value in these elements being different collections that can be mixed and matched as people see fit.

  2. We don't want to put a limit on the number of participants. Everyone that wants one should be able to get one. And you can mint as many as you want as well.

  3. We want to go beyond standard RPG roles (like those typically used in Dungeons and Dragons). We love classic RPG games and the roles in them, but the Loot and NFT world can be so much bigger, including an opportunity to include futuristic Races and Roles.

Minting Rules

These are the probabilities that define what character will be minted.

Every character has a race

There are four probability groupings for races. The specific probability for each of those groupings changes linearly as more characters are minted. Once 50K characters have been minted, the probabilities stabilize. The table below breaks down these groupings and probabilities.

Every character has a role

There is a ~10% probability that a character will have two roles. If in the process of determining a second role, the character gets the same role they first got, then that character will only have 1 role.

Ever character has an element affinity

There are four probability groups for elements.

There is also a 10% probability that a character will have two element affinities. It is possible to have a double affinity to an element. This indicates that the character has an especially strong affinity to that element

Mint Fees

Characters will always be available to be minted for 0.04 ETH + gas. 25% will be donated to GiveDirectly.

What do your Characters look like?

These are entirely text based NFTs. We are working on bringing Characters to life with designs (both 2D and 3D) and also making it possible to purchase equipment for your Character to wear and use.
